Saturday was our annual Company Conference… the highlight of the National Plastics calendar. Held at Newport’s fantastic Celtic Manor Resort, it really is a great day for staff, suppliers and plus ones.

After a bit of a mad rush to check-in (ever hopeful your room will be ready three hours before actual check-in time) the conference kicked-off with the Supplier Exhibition, at midday in The Augusta Suite, situated on the first floor of Celtic Manor Golf Club.

The Supplier Exhibition was an opportunity for our suppliers showcased their ranges, answer questions and meet with staff from all our branches. Having branches nationwide, and regularly working with people over the phone, means we’ve often not met the people we work with on a daily basis; the Conference is great for put faces to names.

As always, Supplier Exhibition were followed by presentations from senior management – Geoff Foster, Julian Burton, Nick Stone and Andy Smith. (Thumbs up to Andy who was only on day three of his new role with us – he’s certainly started at the deep end!) Geoff took us on a journey through 2015 and unveiled plans for 2016. He also took the opportunity to present the Depot Christmas Awards – prizes included Nerf blasters and Minion fart plasters – pretty close to the purchasing brief of ‘make them random‘.

Post presentations we had three hours to burn – 2 hours 30 of which was spent at the bar, leaving 30 minutes for preening – more than enough time!

All 200 attendees returned to The Augusta Suite, now transformed, for a champagne reception. At 8pm sharp we took our seats for the day’s main event – the gala dinner and Depot of the Year Awards.
